ANNOUNCEMENT: 12 April 2008
At convention on 12 April 2008, the 8th District Republican Party elected
our representative Elector to the 2008 Electoral College, and Delegates and
Alternates to the Republican National Convention. These members of the 8th
District Republican Party are:
Elector:
- David Black, Cabarrus County. David is a long time Republican activist
who has served many offices in local, district, and state party
politics, including multiple terms as a county Chairman and now multiple
terms as our District Chairman.
Delegates:
- Nelia Hamby, Cabarrus County. Nelia is a freshman at UNC-Asheville and
the daughter of District Court Judge William Hamby, Jr. and the niece of
Sandy Carter, Scotland County and District Secretary.
- Jim Bention, Sr., Union County. Jim is the Chairman of the NC GOP Ad hoc
Committee for Minority Relations, the Vice-Chairman of the Union County
GOP, and a former candidate for the State House. He currently serves on
the 8th District GOP and NC GOP Executive Board.
- Justin Burr, Stanly County. Justin was a past Chairman of the NC TARS,
former Chairman of the Stanly County GOP, and past and current candidate
for the State House. He has also served on the 8th District GOP and NC
GOP Executive Board.
Alternates:
- Travis Billingsley, Richmond County. Travis was involved with College
Republicans. He now serves as an HR manager for Perdue Farms in Richmond
County.
- Bill Davis, Union County. Bill is a long time Republican activist. He
has served on a number of county, district, and state level Executive
Boards and currently serves on the 8th District GOP and NC GOP Executive
Board.
- Robert MacLeod, Cabarrus County. Robert is a relative newcome to local
party politics, at least on a board level. He is the owner of the
Hibernian Hall in Harrisburg. A retired veteran, he's also been heavily
involved in veteran organizations.
