8th District Counties

The NC 8th District is composed of all or part of 10 counties. Links to information about each county Republican Party organization are provided in the following list. If the county has a separate web site, a link to their site will be provided on their page.

Due to the efforts of the Democrat-controlled NC Legislature, the 8th District is now heavily Democrat in composition. Areas of Mecklenburg County populated mostly by white liberals were added to the 8th, while more conservative precincts in Cabarrus and Union Counties were taken away. The net result is a Congressional district that is very difficult for a Republican to win. Yet Robin Hayes continues to do so.
