Welcome to the On-line Headquarters
of the North Carolina 8th Congressional District Republican Party!
Our Chairman, David Black, welcomes you to our site!
Meet Our Candidates
The 8th District is proud to have six outstanding candidates ready to
defeat Larry Kissell in 2010. At stake is the seat in the US Congress for the
8th District of North Carolina. The 8th District stretches from Charlotte to
Fayetteville, and our candidates cover the entire area. In November of 2009,
five of the six candidates appeared at a Republican meeting in Cabarrus County,
with four speaking and answering questions in a forum. The press write-up of
this event can be found at
http://www2.independenttribune.com/content/2009/nov/08/gop-looks-unseat-kissell-2010/.
In alphabetical order, the six candidates are:
- Tim D'Annunzio - Tim, a former US Army Sergeant, is originally from
Philadelphia, PA, but now lives in Raeford, NC, in Hoke County. A small
business owner, Tim is pro-life and pro-gun, calls himself a true
conservative, and believes in small government and a strong military.
Learn more about Tim at his online campaign site,
http://www.timvote.com/.
- Darrell Day - Darrell was raised in Indiana but now makes his home
in Hamlet, in Richmond County, and owns a business in Scotland County.
A strong conservative and Christian, Darrell works within the community
and on mission trips to spread the Gospel. He believes the main problem
in America is that our elected officials do not stand up to our trade
partners. For more information about Darrell and his platform, please see
http://stopthemadnessstopthechange.com/Darrell_Day_For_Congress.html.
- Lou Huddleston - Lou was born and raised right here in North
Carolina, at Fort Bragg, the son of an Army paratrooper. He served our
country for 31 years, including a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2003,
retiring from the Army as a full Colonel. He entered the private sector,
but life of public service did not end with his retirement from the
military. Lou promises to persevere in the face of adversity. For more
on Lou, his experience, and his stance, please visit his campaign site,
http://www.votehuddleston.com/.
- Harold Johnson - Anyone who has lived in the Charlotte region since
before 2006 knows "The Big Guy". Harold was a fixture with WSOC-TV for
26 years until his retirement, a highly animated sportscaster. A New Jersey
native, the energetic 68 year old has lived in the area since he was 10.
Harold plans to move into Cabarrus County and the 8th District.
Visit Harold's campaign site at
http://www.voteharoldjohnson.com/ for more information.
- Hal Jordan - Hal is the only candidate of the six to have previously
run for office, losing by only 30 votes in a very close race against former
NC House Speaker Jim Black in 2006 and also running for the Mecklenburg
County Commission in 2008. Living in Mecklenburg County, Hal works for
IBM and has a private sector background and a free-market sensibility. He
feels small businesses need less regulation to help stimulate job creation.

- Bob Palisin - Bob is a retired Presbyterian minister who makes
Concord in Cabarrus County home. He now serves as the parish associate
at Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church but is running for the 8th District
seat because he feels the country needs to return to its original intent.
He believes less government is better, that we need to work toward paying
the national debt, buy war bonds, and buy American. Read Bob's full story
