In Memorial

The Republican Party lost one of its most stalwart supporters and hardest workers on Friday, 04 November 2011, when Larry Griffin passed from this life and entered our Father's many roomed mansion. Larry served his country with a career in the US Air Force, retiring as a Colonel. He served his native Cabarrus County on several civic boards and is a Past Chairman of the Cabarrus County Republican Party. And he served on the 8th District and the NC Republican Party Executive Committees. And Larry was my friend, and a true friend to many. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, 07 November 2011 at Whitley's Annex Chapel in Concord, with burial following the service at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Annex Chapel from 1:00 to 2:30 PM prior to the funeral service. Please be in prayer for all of Larry's family, and the many people whose lives he touched over the years. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.

Help the Party: Donate

At the District Executive Board meeting of 19 April 2011, the Board once again voted to ask all Board members to voluntarily donate $25.00 to help fund our District organization. This has informally become an annual event, being approved four or five years running now. Monies raised at the District level primarily have gone to helping candidates within the 8th District. So this is a call to all 8th District Executive Board members (county Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and At-Large members): To donate, please make your check payable to

8th District GOP

and mail it to

Take Advantage of Free Training

The purpose of the NC GOP County Chairman's Association is to increase the effectiveness of Republican County Chairmen in the cause of good government through training, communication and informed participation in the political process, and to provide party officials with an extension for the support of the aims and objectives of the North Carolina Republican Party.

Please visit the CCA website (also available from our links page) for a list of training materials offered by the CCA. If there is something that your county organization needs specific training in that is not listed, let them know and they will put something together to conduct a training session if possible.

Training sessions offered include:

  • County and Precinct Organization
  • Training of Precinct Officers
  • Finance 101
  • Fundraising
  • How to conduct your County and Precinct Conventions
  • Public Relations and Earned Media

Other training sessions are available upon request.

If possible, when planning a training session for more than 10 people, please try to schedule a place suitable for a projector. Community Colleges usually can and will accomodate that need.

All training requests must come from the County Chair of the county requesting the training.

The 8th District representative to the CCA is Joshua T. Austin, Sr. Please feel free to contact Josh at 910-206-1381 or send him a note at gopgiantnc@yahoo.com.
